I’ve been interested in new consumer Internet models since 1998, when I co-founded Eve.com, the first online retailer of cosmetics, fresh out of business school. Eve.com grew to $10 million in annual sales in its first year and sold successfully to Idealab for $100 million in cash. The company was then sold to LVMH’s Sephora in late 2000. After Eve.com, I served as the Vice-President and General Manager of E-Commerce for The Body Shop, the international beauty goods retailer.
I founded my newest venture, Minted, in 2007 as a crowd-sourced design marketplace that offers paper goods, art and textiles through a curated platform. I’m proud to say Minted now has contributing designers from 43 countries and products that reach 40 million households around the world as it continues to grow.
I have a BA in Political Economy from Williams College and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. While at Stanford, I wrote The Fast Track, a guide to investment banking and management consulting, based on my pre-business school experience as an analyst at Goldman Sachs. The book was published by Broadway Books that has sold over 50,000 copies.
I sit on the Boards of Yelp and the non profit organization Every Mother Counts, which is very dear to my heart. I am also an angel investor in 1000Memories, Beautylish, Crave, and other companies.
